[Ted Report] Beyond Seamless
해외 출장으로 비행기안에서 인터넷을 사용하다가 생각을 정리해보니 또 다른 시장이 열리고 있다는 사실을 확인하게된다. 이러한 부분에 우리는 준비하고 있을지에 대한 생각도 하게된다. 비행기안에서의 인터넷은 우주로 가는 첫걸음이 될것으로 보인다. 여기에 우주의 데이터센터는 지구 관점에서 필요한 인프라가 아니라 달을 진출하기 위한 그리고 나아가 화성과 그이상을 확대하기 위한 전초기지와 같다.
While traveling abroad on a business trip, I found myself reflecting on the future as I used the internet aboard an airplane. It became increasingly clear to me that an entirely new market is emerging. This realization also led me to ask an important question: Are we truly preparing for the opportunities that lie ahead?
I believe that in-flight internet connectivity represents more than just a technological advancement in aviation. It may well be the first step toward a new era of connectivity in space.
From this perspective, space-based data centers should not be viewed merely as infrastructure designed to serve the needs of Earth. Rather, they could become strategic gateways and critical infrastructure for humanity's expansion to the Moon, then to Mars, and ultimately beyond.
What begins as seamless connectivity in the skies may eventually evolve into the digital foundation of humanity's future in space.
많은 비용과 인력이 필요한 산업 하지만 아이폰에 대해 설명하면서 Seamless 컨셉을 도입했을때의 개념을 생각해보면 이렇다. 사람의 경험은 지구를 넘어 우주로 확대가 될것으로 예상된다. 하지만 가지고 있는 경험은 끊김없이 OTT가 도입되기 시작했을때 중요함 강조하면서 Seamless한 경험의 유지가 중요하게 될것으로 예상한적이 있었다. 앞으로의 세계는 단순히 콘텐츠의 Seamless가 아니다. AI를 활용한 우주에서 사람의 경험이 확대되어 갈것으로 보이고 이를 위한 인프라가 필요하고 이 시장의 시작은 이제부터 시작이 될것으로 보인다.
This is an industry that requires enormous capital investment, advanced technology, and highly skilled human resources. Yet, when I reflect on the concept of “Seamless” that I once discussed in relation to the iPhone, I see a much broader vision emerging.
I believe that human experiences will eventually expand beyond Earth and into space. When OTT streaming services first began to emerge, I emphasized the importance of maintaining a seamless user experience—allowing people to enjoy their content continuously, regardless of where they were or which device they were using. Even then, I believed that preserving the continuity of human experience would become increasingly important.
However, the future of seamless connectivity will extend far beyond the uninterrupted delivery of digital content.
As humanity expands its presence into space, artificial intelligence will play a fundamental role in extending and enriching human experiences beyond Earth. AI will enable people not only to remain connected but also to live, work, explore, and interact with their surroundings in entirely new ways.
To make this vision a reality, a new generation of infrastructure will be essential—integrating advanced communications networks, space-based data centers, autonomous AI systems, and intelligent platforms capable of supporting human activities across Earth, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
What began as a seamless digital experience on Earth may ultimately evolve into a seamless human experience across space.
And I believe the market for building this new infrastructure is only just beginning to emerge.
